Patricia Ashley.
Second row - Peggy Yates, Patricia Robertson, Gracie Ann Brannon,
Nancy Venable (salutatorian), Patsy Ruth Nokes, Hilda Jo Johnson
(valedictorian), Kenneth Penson, Shirley Shumate, and Mary
Welborn.
Kneeling - Hulan Allen, Glenn White, Eulan Allen, Donald McLain,

Schools Close 1954-55 Term; Exercises Sunday - Monday Nights, Hi
School Auditorium

The Malakoff Public School system closes its doors this weekend
on a very highly successful 1954-55 term under the
superintendency of Norris Starkey. The closing programs have been
arranged for Sunday and Monday evenings in the High School
Auditorium.
The Baccalaureate Service, with the Rev. T. J. Hennessee, pastor
of the First Assembly of God Church delivering the message, will
be held Sunday evening at 8:00. The supporting music for the
Baccalaureate will be given by the high school choral group.
The Commencement Exercises will be held Monday evening, May 23rd.
In this program the special awards and honors to the members of
the senior class will be presented by the high school principal,
Mr. H. G. Larkin. Supt. Norris Starkey will deliver the charge to
the graduating class and the diplomas will be presented by C. N.
Humphries, president of the school board.
The Salutatory address will be given by Miss Nancy Venable and
the Valedictory by Miss Hilda Johnson.
The Commencement music, with Miss Anne Pope Gilreath at the
piano, will be presented by the high school octet and the choral
group.
The class of 55, numbering twenty-one graduates, has been
sponsored through the past year by Mrs. Victor Lewis, teacher of
home economics, and H. G. Larkin, high school principal.
