Entertains with Announcement Party
from The Malakoff News
June 1932

Miss Mary Evans was hostess to a delightful party last Saturday afternoon when she entertained six tables of bridge at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dodge Gentry, announcing the engagement of Miss Elizabeth Gentry and Mr. J. D. Waller.

Lovely spring flowers were tastefully arranged throughout the living room, dining room and reception hall, reminding the guests that Spring has come, but later in the afternoon when cards were given the guests with the inscription, "Elizabeth - Red, May 29" it was understood that Spring was in someone’s heart as well.

The announcement cards of the engagement of this popular young couple, were cleverly concealed under a mound of flowers carried in a dainty flower basket and presented to the guests by little Miss Sarah Ned DeLaFosse, who dressed in pink organdy and white sandals, looked like a radiant flower herself.

At the conclusion of the games, Mrs. W. B. Payne held high score and was awarded a box of Luxor powder. The honoree was given a pair of cut work Pillow Cases.

The ladies enjoying this occasion were: Mesdames V. C. Doctorman, W. C. Christian, J. H. Roberts, H. L. Flagg, Jr., Boyd Sharp, W. B. Payne, Lloyd Tiner, H. C. Riddlesperger, T. E. Stewart, Bowen Welborn, A. L. Kirby, J. A. Ballard, L. J. School, Dan Gentry, Felix DeLaFosse, R. I. Weir, and Misses Dorothy Flagg, Christine Skiles, Annie Pope Gilreath, Margaret Evans, Therma and Theretta Bartlett, and Ivanelle Easley.

Mrs. J. D. Evans and Mrs. J. D. Gentry called at the refreshment hour.
