Malakoff Team Champion Bowlers

The above photograph represents the Malakoff team of women
bowlers sponsored by Monroe's Café in Malakoff which won first
place in the "Strike Out League" at the Sands Bowling
Lanes in Athens.
The Malakoff aggregation was awarded trophies in the league play
championship for the 1961-62 season. Twelve teams were entered in
the play competition.
Identified in the accompanying photograph of the local team are:
Martha Pugh; Lila Quinn; Jeanne Atkinson, Captain; Jane Ferguson;
and Juanita Christopher.
Mrs. Atkinson Highest
Mrs. Jeanne Atkinson, captain of the team, rolled the highest
score in a three-game series ever recorded by a woman bowler at
the Sands Lanes. She was awarded a special trophy for the 593
series.
