Athens 1B Wins
Athens, Texas, March 2-The Athens 1B quintet defeated
Simpsonville 1B of Upshur county on the indoor court at Tyler, by
a score of 25 to 15, gaining undisputed title to East Texas
championship and placing in the state meet.

Duel With Burglar
Athens man grapples with intruder and is stabbed with a knife
Finds Revolver Fires
Neighbors rush in and arrest robber
Both men are seriously wounded

Athens, Tex, Sept. 17-George Munroe fought a
duel with a burglar in his home here early today, both receiving
serious, but not fatal wounds.
Munroe grappled with the robber who stabbed him.
Munroe then managed to get his revolver from under a
pillow and fired one bullet in the burglars side. Neighbors
rushed in and the robber was arrested. He gives his name as Jim
Davis.

Accidently Killed
Athens Farmers' Shot Gun is Fatally Discharged
Athens, Tex, Jan. 24-B. L. Nelson, a farmer, who
resided four miles south of this city, died this morning from a
wound caused by the accidential discharge of a shot gun. Nelson
was preparing to go hunting, when the weapon fell from the table
and the jar discharged it. Nelson was forty
seven years of age.
