Feb 24-The weather is fine and the farmers have begun to turn the soil under.

Mrs. Annie Alvis and also Mrs. R. J. Ball have recently been sick.

Robert French of Alto spent the week-end at Opelika at the Miss Ester Day home.

T. M. Ball was visiting his mother, Mrs. R. J. Ball Wednesday.

The party at T. E. Kent’s Saturday night was enjoyed by all who were present.

We are sorry to report the death of Mr. A. L. Lamberth.

Mrs. Mary Hatton was called to Dallas to the bedside of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Edwards, who is very ill.

W. Y. Howell and son had business in Athens Monday.

We thought Saturday one of our boys (Carlton Corley) was going to win fame by inventing a new way of driving Fords, but he says today it is too unpleasant driving them bottom side upward and he did not intend to fake the experiment any more.

The swift Opelika school team went down in defeat before the mixed team they played Friday evening.

Mr. Willie Turner and Miss Mattie Hubbard were visitors at school Friday.

Many fish are being caught lately, but the rain yesterday will probably hinder for a while.

Little Avernell Mayfield of Black Jack is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Day.

J. K. Bearden’s baby has been sick for the past week.

Miss Esther Day returned Thursday from Black Jack where she has been visiting for the last two weeks.
