Knickers Bring Snickers
Paris styles are but a few minutes distance from New York and the
distance is even shorter from
New York to Athens. A new-style ushered in in Paris today will
reach Athens within less than a
week. Knickers for some time have been common on the streets of
Athens. No longer do they
create a second look.
But a new sight greeted Athenians yesterday afternoon when a
negro girl struted forth around the
square wearing a semblance of knee breeches. A pair of Khaki
overalls had been abbreviated at the
knees for the occasion and there was many guffaws from those on
the streets.
Verily Fashion doth pereate the uttermost parts.

Proposes Using Brick for Road Building
Charley Miller of the Athens Pottery advocates
using brick to build the roads of Henderson county.
Mr. Miller has made up a sample brick from local clay and it is
even harder than vitrified brick. The
clay used in making these brick clay that is not now used by the
pottery or brick works but is a
cheaper product with now market value.
Mr. Miller has made some estimations on the project and says the
roads could be built at a cost not
exceeding $16,000 per mile. He says the brick can be made for $12
per thousand whereas the
brick used on the Athens streets cost $35 per thousand. If his
propostion is feasible it should
by all means be given a trial in this county.
