Cross Roads

Special Correspondence

Cross Roads, June 12-
Spencer Ward of Galveston is visiting his people of Cross Roads.
"Grandpa" McCulloch, who is seriously ill is reported no better at this writing.
The Baptist people of Cross Roads had a good dinner and these good Baptist ladies gave "Uncle" Dick a plate and asked me to help myself. It makes me feel like I was with my own people. Many from out of town attended the meeting Saturday. When I went up in town Amos Odell gave me a cigar and I was making this smoke fly on each side of my beard and the town boys said: "Uncle Dick an officer is a hunting you" and then I collapsed.
O. M. Kinabrew said they had cotton blooms on his farm.
B. Welch and W. D. Thornton are hauling their Irish potatoes. Thornton and Jim Whitman trucked two loads to Athens and my son, B. Welch brought "Uncle" Dick potatoes that will weigh a pound each.
Deputy Sheriff Jepson of Athens had business in Cross Roads Saturday.
