County Teacher Dies; Victim of Blood Poisoning
Miss Mary Vern Hardin, member of the faculty of the Unity school in this county, died at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning following a brief illness with blood poisoning. Her condition had been critical since she suddenly became illness with blood poisoning. Her condition had been critical since she suddenly became ill late Friday. She had been a visitor in Athens as late as yesterday, friends here said.
Physicians early Saturday morning found her condition so serious that they decided against a plan to move her to a hospital. Miss Hardin became suddenly ill Friday night.
She is a daughter of Mrs. Tom Hardin of Brownsboro.
Miss Hardin was born November 26, 1914, and was a native of Henderson county, having been born at Murchison.
Funeral arrangements were not complete at noon Saturday, time being withheld pending arrival of a brother from California. Interment will be in the Allen Cemetery.

One of the largest crowds ever to attend a funeral service in Easter Henderson county paid final tribute to the memory of Miss Mariverne Hardin, 22-year-old Unity school teacher, at Murchison Tuesday morning. Services were held at the First Baptist church there with Rev. E. M. Johnson and Rev. D. R. Cartlidge, both of Athens in charge. The Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home was in charge.
Pallbearers were: Amon Tidmore, Marshall Fowler, Archie Fowler, Buck Ellis, Raymond Pickering and Roy Jackson.

Will C. Spears Dies in Dallas Hospital
Will C. Spears, 44, resident of Murchison, died at Baylor hospital Sunday, following an operation for peritonitis.
The body was brought to Murchison Sunday in a Carroll-Lehr funeral car and carried to the home in Murchison.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with burial following at New York Cemetery.

Boy is Painfully Hurt In Fall At Residence Here Leroy Sanders, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Sanders of Athens, suffered painful lacerations about the face Thursday afternoon when he accidentally fell against a broker flower pot while playing at the Sanders residence.
He was given medical attention at the Wolfe-Duphorne hospital where Dr. Dan Woofe found it necessary to use several stitches in closing the wounds.
The child was reported to be getting along nicely Friday morning.


Lloyd Pace, 47, Dies Sunday at Local Hospital
Lloyd Pace, 47, lifelong resident and a prominent farmer-stockman of Henderson county, died Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock at the Doctor's Hospital and Clinic here following an illness with pneumonia which had kept him in a critical condition for a number of days.
Mr. Pace succumbed Sunday as physicians gave an anesthetic preliminary to an operation.
The operation had been ordered as attending physicians made a final effort to preserve his life.
Funeral services were scheduled to be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, with Rev. M. L. Fuller, pastor, in charge.
Interment will followed in the Owen cemetery.
Five brothers of the deceased, George Pace, Floyd Pace, O. E. Pace, Ezra Pace and Rafe Pace, were named pallbearers.
David Lloyd Pace was a member of a pioneer Henderson county family, being a son of Rev. Tony Pace, one of the county's best known ministers at the turn of the century. He was born August 12, 1890 at Pine Grove and had spent his life in Henderson county, having engaged in the farming and livestock business since reaching manhood.
He and Miss Stella Day, only daughter of W. R. day, were married 1911, six children born to this union surviving.

Funeral For Judge Wynne Tuesday morning
Judge William Buck Wynne of Wills Point, veteran East Texas jurist and father of Mrs. Jack T. Life of Athens and Toddie Lee Wynne, former Athenian, died in a Dallas hospital Sunday night following a blood transfusion.
Judge Wynne had been ill for the past year of more but his condition had shown such improvement from time to time that he was able to be up and about for several days at a time. He was 81 years of age.
He was removed to Dallas last Monday when his condition became serious again.
Funeral services were held at Wills Pont Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock with burial following in that city.
A native of Rusk county, Mr. Wynne began the practice of law in 1886 at Wills Point, and in his long career practiced before all local courts, the District Court of Appeals, the State Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
A lifelong Democrat in politics, Mr. Wynne attended State conventions for many years but never sought public office.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and active in his home congregatin. He also was noted as a sportsman, and held the trap-shooting championship of his section of the State for years.
For many years he and his four sons engaged in a partnership in the practice of law.
On May 26, 1924, Mr. Wynne and three of his sons, Angus G., Jim Buck and Toddie Lee, were admitted simultaneously to practice before the United States Supreme Court. It was said to have been the first instance of the kind in the history of the tribunal.
Mr. Wynne is survived by his wife, four sons, Angus Wynne, of Longview, Toddie Lee Wynne, of Dallas, Jim Buck Wynne and Gordon Wynne of Wills Point; four daughters, Mrs. Winona W. Montague of Wills Point; Mrs. E. R. L. Rowe, Austin; Mrs. Wm. Harrison of Fort Worth and Mrs. Jack T. Life of Athens. A sister, Mrs. W. A. Williams of Dallas (here ends article)

Payne Springs Resident Dies In Mississippi From Blood Poisoning
Boxey Reynolds, age 45, well-known citizen of the Payne Springs community, died in Mississippi on Sunday afternoon, relatives in the county were advised.
Mr. Reynolds went to Mississippi about ten days ago to pick cotton.
Reports were that he received a scratch on his hand and that blood poison developed.
He died at Valley Park, Miss.
The body arrived in Eustace Tuesday and funeral serices were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was at Payne Springs with Rev. Charlie Lunsford, conducting the services.
Beside his wife, Mr. Reynolds is survived by two sons and two daughters, six grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. In addition to his farming activities he conducted a small mattress making business at Payne Springs for a number of years.

Two Recent Weddings Are Recorded Here
Two recent weddings involving license certificates obtained here were recorded Monday.
Robert E. Hinsch and Miss Willie Myrtice Cook, both of Dallas, were married on October 2nd by T. Edgar Neal, Dallas Methodist minister.
Milan Herriage and Miss Fayrene Watterson, both of Athens, were united in marriage on September 10th. Rev. Marvin Johnson, Baptist minister of Athens performed the ceremony.
