Thomas E. Brown, son of Mr.and Mrs.
Ervie D. Brown of Athens, completed basic training Nov.
1, at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif.
The nine-week training includes naval organization,
seamanship, ordnance and gunnery, military drill,
physical fitness, first aid and survival.
Wants to Re-Enlist

The oldest soldier on active duty at Ft. McPherson, M.
Sgt. Howard R. Davis, 66, has applied for
reenlistment Nov. 12.
Fort Bliss, Tex.(AHTNC)
Army Pvt. John L. Runnels, son of Johnny
Runnels, 501 Williams St., Athens, Tex., is scheduled to
complete a fire distribution systems electronics course
at The Air Defense Center, Ft. Bliss, Tex., Dec. 19.
Runnels entered the Army in August 1963.The 18 year old
soldier is a 1963 graduate of Henderson High School.

Donald A. Ford, 19, son of Mrs. Lester
Ford of 606 North Prairieville, Athens, completed basic
training Oct. 11, at the Naval Training Center, Great
Lakes, Ill.
The nine-week training includes naval orientation,
history and organization, seamanship, ordnance and
gunnery, military drill, physical fitness, first aid and
survival.
