Cemetery Gets Name From Creek

The cemetery here known as Alligator Cemetery was cleaned off Saturday morning by friends and neighbors. It was named for a small creek nearby which is
called Alligator Creek. The cemetery is very old and one grave is approximatly 96 years old. Once in the long ago, a church and schoolhouse stood near the
cemetery. A cape jasmine bush in the cemetery is said to be about 59 years old.

The Davis Cemetery in the community also needs working and all who are interested in it should send donations to Mrs. Daisy Massey who has done a
wonderful job caring for it in the past.

Pvt. Ronnie Richardson is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Richardson. He will leave Thursday for Fort Bragg, N.C., where he
will be stationed for some time.

Pfc. Garvin Ray Smith spent the weekend with his wife. He returned to Huntsville, Ala., Sunday.

Mrs. A. S. Johnson is slowly improving from an attack of the shingles.

Clarence Cook of Eastland and Grady Cook of Levelland spent a few days last week here with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Davis.

Mrs. Iva Nell Clark and children, Harold Clyde and Sarah Jane, left Tuesday for the 4-H Club Round-Up in College Station. Harold Clyde was to enter the tractor maintenance contest while Sarah Jane enters the landscaping division. Roberta Richardson, Connie Sue Davis and Betsy Oliveria were also members of the
group from here attending with their leader, Mrs. Clark.

The Baxter HD Club met Tuesday and finished a quilt. The club plans to hold a picnic soon.Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Morris spent the weekend in Galveston.

The Rev. Nolan Holcomb, pastor of the Baxter Methodist Church, is attending annual conference in Houston this week.

Word received from Jon Wyrick is that x-ray pictures were made tuesday and that he is expected home soon.
