Poynor Soldier Home After Absence Almost Four Years; Now Instructor

Sgt. Connally Thrasher of Poynor, radio operator-mechanic, holder of the Pre-Pearl Harbor Service
ribbon, the Caribbean Service ribbon and the Bronze Star of gallantry in the line of service, has
returned to his home town after an absence of nearly four years.
He graduated in 1940 from LaPoynor High School, where he was a member of the championship
basketball team of that year, winner of the district meet. He enlisted in the Army Air Forces in
November of 1940.
He spent most of his period on service in the Caribbean area in Porto Rico, and while there attended
the University, furthering his education. He also saw service on Antigua and Aruba Islands and in
Panama.
Sgt. Thrasher is now stationed at Brunning, Nebraska, as an instructor in radio mechanics.
He has one brother in the service, Pfc. Millard Thrasher, now serving in the Army Medics Corps
somewhere in Australia. Pfc. Thrasher has been overseas for two and one-half years. A sister
Miss Kathleen Thrasher, is a senior at LaPoynor and a star player of the 1944-45 basketball
team.
All three are the children of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Thrasher, and all of them as well as their parents,
