Official Report of the Mass Meeting


Athens, Tex., July 22, 1903
Henderson County Prohibition Mass Meeting met at court house at 11:30 a. m., Judge
W. L. Faulk elected chairman, Knox Henderson secretary. After short talk from Dr. C. R.
Johnson, Rev. J. H. Gambrell and George B. Thompson, a motion prevailed electing the
following committee on organization and resolutions:
Web Parker, G. L. Parker, J. R. Reierson, E. H. Carter, George Thompson, Seth Scott,
L. Palmer, Paul Jones, M. Reeves, W. L. Faulk, Knox Henderson, Meeting adjourned
until 1:30 p.m.

AFTERNOON SESSION
House called to order by W. L. Faulk at 2 o'clock p.m.
Report of committee on resolution and organization called for which was read and
adopted as follows:
COMMITTEE'S REPORT.
To. W. L. Faulk, temporary chairman Prohibition Mass Meeting:
We, your committee appointed one permanent organization, and resolutions, beg,
to report the folowing:
We recommend that J. J. Faulk be elected permanent county chairman for the county,
and that J. R. Reierson be elected secretary. We recommend the following as county
executive committeemen:

We recommend that the county chairman make such appointments of committeemen at
the various voting boxes as he may deem proper; that if any of the above names suggested
do not accept he is authorized to fill their places with other committeemen.
We recommend that petitions be filed in the Hon. County Commissioners' Court at its
regular August term, 1903, and that said court be requested to order and election at as
early a day thereafter as they can under the law.
