East Side Assembly of God Church

The $3,000 brick construction addition to the East Side Assembly of God Church, located on the Tyler Highway past the overpass, is near completion.  The new addition will provide about 750 square feet of space for the educational department, including Sunday School classrooms and a meeting place for the youth group, Christ's Ambassadors.  This construction project brings the value of the total church plant to approximately $15,000.  The church was founded in 1957 by Billy Rasco.  The first organizational meeting, attended by eight members, was held on a concrete slab at the present church site.  The membership has grown considerably since that time and attendance now averages 25 to 30 each Sunday.  Services are held each Sunday with Sunday School beginning at 10 a.m. adn morning worship following at 11 a.m.  The C.A. meets each Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and an evangelistic service is held each Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.  Mid-week services are scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Thursday.  Sunday School superintendent is Billy Whitley.  Dorothy Rasco is organist and Billy Rasco serves as music director.  Trustees of the church are Whitley, Rasoc, and the Rev. A.C. Rasco, pastor.  Rev. Rasco has been pastor for the past three years.
