Peel Family Cemetery Henderson County Texas Named for the pioneer James Turner Peel, on whose land the interment place was once located and whose family settled in the area in the 1860's from Mississippi. The land the Peel family inhabited was partly in Henderson County and partly in Kaufman County. Earliest marked grave is of James T Peel, who died and was buried in 1876 This cemetery is located 1/3 mile south of the Kaufman-Henderson County line, south of the Old Peeltown Community. It is on a ranch and is accessible only by foot as there is a very large & deep creek bed that must be crossed to reach it. The site is about 3/4 acre in size, completely fenced & is on the south bank of the creek. It is overgrown in brush, weeds & cactus. In very poor shape, yet location is probably responsible for it's preservation.
