Funeral services for Mrs. Ernestine Doehne Schladoer, who passed away at her home in Bandera on June 25th, 1960 after an illness of only 3 weeks, were held last Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Plummer Funeral home in Bandera, with services being conducted by Rev. Pecht of Comfort. Robt. C. Herbst of Fredericksburg read an obituary in which he gave a resume of her long and useful life. Mrs. Schladoer was a woman of fine character and was beloved by all who knew her. During her serious illness she bore her suffering cheerfully and with great fortitude.
A choir of three ladies with Mrs. Selena Saur at the organ sang two songs in the funeral home. The pallbearers were Milton Rogers, Ernest Elsworth, Richard Schladoer, Egon Hoeke, Henry Schladoer and Otto Gass.
The funeral was largely attended and many lovely flowers were a mute tribute to the affection felt for the deceased.
Mrs. Ernestine Doehne Schladoer was born at Smithson's Valley on December 22, 1867, daughter of Mr. John Doehne and Katherine Gass. She grew up there, attended the Smithson Valley school and on September 16 1893, she was married to Richard Schladoer of Comfort.
The young couple made their home in Comfort from 1893 to 1920 and then they moved to Bandera to Mason Creek and later moved to their present place.
