Graveside services were conducted at the Bandera cemetery Saturday afternoon at 2:30 for Luke G. Gray, 68, who passed away in the Kerrville General Hospital Friday morning, December 17, after a brief illness. The rites were conducted by Rev. H. T. Arnold, pastor of the Bandera Baptist Church, assisted by J. Marvin Hunter, Sr. Pallbearers were John R. Langford, Ashley Rugh, E. L. McKay, Len Ray(?), Ace Radabaugh and Ben Pyka.
Luke Gorum Gray was born in Coryell County, Texas November 26, 1880, and came to Bandera County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray when he was a small boy. He grew to manhood here and on June 22, 1897, he married Miss Alice Chipman. To this union 11 children were born, eight of whom are living; four girls and four boys. The sons are Claud, Gorum, (?) and Floyd Gray, all of Kerrville. The daughters are: (here the obituary is too faded to read further.) GRAY, LUKE GORUM born Nov 26, 1880 Gatesville TX; died Dec 17, 1948 Kerrville General Hospital, Kerrville TX; gastric hemorrhage, gastric ulcer; resident of Bandera, TX; widowed; farmer and rancher; son of Robert Gray and Mary Thomas Carrigan; husband of Alice May Gray; father of Mrs. Clark Noble, Claud, Gorum, Loyd and Eugene Gray all of Kerrville, Mrs. Frank Ross of Bandera, Mrs. Boyd Love and Mrs. Robert Dear both of San Antonio; brother of Charlie Gray of Medina Lake, Alfred Gray, Mrs. Oscar Lackey, and Miss Nell Gray all of Kerrville, Mrs. Rob Smith of Robstown, and Mrs. Emma Joiner of Bandera.
