Medina, Bandera County, Texas

Location: From Medina go east 2 miles to FM 2828, turn left to Laxson Creek.  Cemetery
is on right side of the road about one mile and is north of Laxson Creek in a grove of oak trees.

It is on fenced private property in a cattle pasture and is no longer in use
Hausley, Benjamin Cobb,  b  1/29/1873,  d  12/4/1900

Lewis, Levi, Jr.,  b  11/12/1801,  d  6/3/1872 (no marker - oldest burial)

Lewis, Sarah Catherine (see Sarah Stanard below)

Stanard, Harvey A., b  3/26/1842,  d  1/6/1901*

Stanard, Sarah Catherine,  b  10/9/1845,  d  1/6/1901*, maiden name Lewis

Note:   Mr. & Mrs. Stanard died on the same day within a few hours of each other, after just a few days of illness with pneumonia.  They are buried together with one marker.

Old Stanard Home
Medina, East side.
 "On land owned by John James, surveyor of Bandera and Castroville townsites, and by Confederate general John Bell Hood.
Hostile Indians prevented construction until 1878, two years prior to founding of Medina.
Owned by Standard family since 1889.
Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1965."
