*The Moores and their four children - Amanda, 10; John Travis, 6; George Washington, 4; and Mary Ann, infant - were attacked by indians. The parents were killed, and the indians tried to kill the children but were unsuccessful because the scared oxen ran away with the wagon. The Moore's two other children, William, 11 and Alfred, 7, were with an uncle that day. In June 2005, a plaque was placed at the cemetery by the grandchildren of William F. Moore.
