HEART ATTACK CLAIMS LIFE OF BENNIE SCHLADOER, AGE 61 Bennie Schladoer died at his home in the Mason Creek community early Monday morning, December 11, 1961, from a heart attack and brought sorrow to hundreds of Hill Country relatives and friends. Mr. Schladoer had been ill with a heart condition for several months before his death.
Benjamin (Bennie) Schladoer was born in Comfort, Texas, on June 15, 1900, the son of Richard Schladoer and Ernestine Doehne Schladoer. He grew to young manhood in the Comfort community and moved to Bandera in 1920 with his parents. They settled in the Mason Creek community where they engaged in ranching and farming. Mr. Schladoer had made his home in that community since coming to the county. For a time he was employed with the Bandera Feed and Produce, but became ill and had to give up his work.
Mr. Schladoer and Miss Fleta Joiner were happily married and to this union was born two sons and two daughters.
Survivors include his sorrowing wife, Mrs. Fleta Schladoer; his sons, Richard and Ernest of Bandera; two daughters, Mrs. Pat O'Neill of San Antonio and Mrs. Alfred Schulte of Hondo; two brothers, Ernest Schladoer of Bandera and Edwin Schladoer of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Lena Pfeiffer of Comfort and eight grandchildren.He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at the Plummer Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, at 2 p.m., with Rev. J. Manley Reynolds, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating and interment was made in the Bandera cemetery under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Willie Schmidt, Herman Mazurek, John Goodenough, Edwin Vawter, Pete Jenschke and Earl Davenport.
Friends and relatives here will miss the kindly influence of Mr. Schladoer. He was well known and highly esteemed here. He had many friends and was a good husband and father. The hundreds of beautiful flowers and the chapel filled with sorrowing friends gave mute evidence to his standing in community.
